AAS Suite for Asset Administration Shells

AAS Suite - Designer and Marketplace for Asset Administration Shells

You want to create Asset Administration Shells (AAS) yourself and are looking for the right tool? Our AAS Designer allows you to create them easily and quickly on the web and make them available on an online marketplace.

The future standard interfaces for machines, their components and assets

The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is set to become the standard for machine interfaces in the field of Industrie 4.0. It will be used as a common interface between all types of industrial machines, including robots, production lines, conveyors, etc., and their respective components or parts. Designing and creating digital twins can also be enhanced by using Asset Administration Shells.

To establish this standard, a large group of well-known companies has founded an association, the IDTA - Industrial Digital Twin Association. The definition of this interface has been driven and developed in recent years by projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

It's often difficult to create an asset administration shell, as it can consist of several sub-models representing different aspects of an asset. To create them and fill them with content, you need to hire experts who have been working on the topic for a long time. Of course, this is not desirable for a standard interface.

As a result, Meta-Level Software AG is developing an AAS Designer, which allows users to create their own asset administration shells. It helps them by providing various support functions so that they don't need to be experts any longer. In addition to the designer, an associated marketplace to exchange administration shells will be available, too. Both of these projects are currently under development and are expected to be released soon.

AAS Designer

The AAS Designer serves the easy creation of AAS, even for non-professionals. If desired, it accompanies the creator step by step in the construction of an administration shell and offers many assistance functions.

Furthermore, it also offers experienced users, who are already familiar with AAS, a tool with which administration shells can be created quickly and conveniently. These can then be shared within the designer with any colleagues or immediately published on the marketplace.

The AAS Designer was developed as part of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research-funded project "BaSys überProd".

Marketplace

The marketplace for asset administration shells is the central hub for providing and exchanging AAS.

On the marketplace, any user can search for AAS published there and download them from there to use them.

Registered users can also place AAS and add explanations to them as well as transfer the AAS to the AAS Designer for further processing. Conversely, they can publish AAS created in the designer on the marketplace.

Currently implemented sub-models of the IDTA

At IDTA, new sub-models for VWS/AAS are continuously made available. We are continuously working on making these available in our designer.

Currently implemented are:

  • Digital Nameplate for Industrial Equipment
  • Contact Information
  • Generic Frame for Technical Data for Industrial Equipment in Manufacturing
  • Control Component Type
  • Handover Documentation
  • Capability

It is also possible to create your own sub-models or modify and work with the already existing ones.

Meta-Level Software AG is a member of the IDTA - Industrial Digital Twin Association.

We’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
